Of late, the Time mercifully
is giving me enough time... Earlier to
this, the Time blessed my urge to write
‘Raghuism’ and I as a writer was born.
The readers welcomed my adventure in
an unprecedented way. I am ever grateful
for their Time and honour.
In the same spirit and
motivation, I took time out to write these
short stories. There’s a huge difference
between writing poems and writing
short stories. Poem is like the free flow
of a river and story is akin to stitching
together the beads of a beautiful garland.
There are so many events and
circumstances in our life that we witness.
Stitching those memories and memoirs
in words and creating a pearl necklace is
a big exercise.
If we consider our life to be an
oyster, each incident is like a pearl...
some get lost in Time and many lost in
transition...however few of those pearls
we can choose to stitch together to make
a necklace. None of those pearls are
same nor similar and represent different
instances in our life.
I am a social person like many
other people. I have put together some
instances and experiences as short
stories. My inspiration for this initiative
is the day today happenings in and
around our chosen daily chores. The
main backbone for this endeavor is my
father’s vision and belief in me. He was a
great teacher, and his reading habit was
contagious for those who were witness to
it. Naturally I imbibed that habit early in
my childhood. He would have been very
happy reading this book. For me now
his memories have become the torch to
enlighten the path ahead and keeps me
on track to follow his ideals.
Please do go through these18
short stories of beaded pearls inside a shell
and share your thoughts on each of those
pearls carrying a message and a hidden
experience of a lifetime. Hope you will
enjoy them reading as much as I enjoyed
putting them together on paper. All the
characters and the situations though
based on experiences is not directed
towards anyone in particular and no one
in general. The confusions, turmoil, the
spot decisions, responsibilities, warning
signs, desperations, insensitivities, the
little joys and sorrows, empathizing with
others, the patients and the day today
happenings in our medical profession,
our childhood memories and many such
threads have been captured in these
short stories.
The photo on the cover page
is my brother in law Mohandas G’s
contribution and the design is by Ajith
Koundinya. The book is published by
Total Kannada Publication house lead

to all of them for their support and
encouragement.
This time, the book is appearing
in two languages, in Kannada titled,
‘Chippinalli Muttugalu’ and in English
titled, ‘Pearls inside a shell.’ For the
English book translation my dear friend

has given their best to bring out
the essence of the learnings and the
experiences explained in my mother
tongue Kannada. I am immensely happy
the way it has appeared in translation
and no words can share my gratitude
for their work. Through this effort, I am
trying to reach out to all my well wishers
who may not understand Kannada.
I am also thankful to computer
specialist Sri Shivakumar Diet Bellary

for their time and appreciation.
Most of all I will always be filled
with gratitude for the support that you
as a reader has extended in patronizing
writers like me. A special thanks to

foreword.
Only the shining drops of water
is seen when it rains on leaves, when
the same rain drops on oyster, gives
us the shining pearls. Sweet love is the
reflection of endless adorable pearls, the
memorable experiences in these short
stories are those pearls inside a shell...
