Sandalwood is not like funky imitations done by few others like Bollywood, Tollywood, Maliwood, etc. We have a special meaning for this “name”; we must feel proud for having such a name to our Kannada film industry.

Film is a powerful media in today's world. It's no more just an entertainment hub. Films have become very significant for a language to get recognized. Although there are other fields such as literature, Art and music, which can also strengthen a language, it's ultimately the films, which reach a common man.

So the status of film industry drastically reflects the eminence of the language. This is clear in the case of Kannada. So it is very important to be serious about the ongoing of Kannada film world and not neglect it, so that, the social and economic life of we Kannadigas improve, which is under a serious threat as the foreigners are taking advantage of our weaknesses.

So, let us encourage our Sandal Wood…

About Kannada Movies...

Because of Kannadiga's broad mentality, lack of support from Press media and theatre owners, every year, out of around 25 good movies screened, only 5 to 10 movies make good money, run for 100 days or 25 weeks. Remaining 15 to 20 good movies are not getting noticed. This is the fate of Kannada movies in it's hometown. That's the reason why I would like to defend our GOOD KANNADA MOVIES.

When there are quiet a few good movies and if they don’t get noticed because of the above mentioned reasons, we have to fight against the premature death of these movies. Unfortunately most of the people who talk ill about Kannada movies would not have watched good Kannada movies or they don't know anything about Kannada movies or just that they are having prejudices against our language. Here are some facts that happened to good Kannada movies.

An excellent movie Amruthavarshini was discarded from Santhosh theatre when it had completed 50 successful days. Then producer fought against the injustice and then it ran for 20 weeks. America, America was discarded from Abhinay theatre when it was running for packed houses even in the 24th week. Huliya -Devaraj's movies (you might have not even heard about this movie, if you get a chance just watch it, and you will simply love it) this movie was also removed from Abhinay in the 2nd week itself. Vishnuvardhan's excellent movie Suprabhata couldn't even complete 100 days in Kalpana theatre in Bangalore. Bhujangayyana Dhashavaathara, Ganayogi Panchaakshari Gavayi (Hamsalekha got the best music director national award for this movie ), Sangya Bhaalya, Kanasalu neene.. Manasalu neene, and many more..........

If producers/banners are strong enough, then they can have their movies complete at least 50/100 days. And if producers don't know 'Goonda' culture they can't screen Kannada movies in the theatres they wish.
