Improve the status of our land & language—Support Tourism

Improvement of Kannada and Karnataka is not lonely dependent on the improvement of Kannada films. I agree that it makes a lot of impact on the development of any language especially in a country like India, where films are one of the craziest things.

As Kannadigas we have more responsibilities than just talking about films and outsiders invading Karnataka. I don’t mean that it is not necessary either. But it is not possible by an individual to stop people from other states enter Karnataka and work for companies that are on the border of Tamil Nadu or we cant either stop people coming from other place and work in Bangalore. It should be a sort of group activity with support from government.

Still we can do few things for the betterment of Kannada and Karnataka. Few basic things that I follow are,

Speak to people of other languages in Kannada and make them learn.

Make them understand that it is important to learn Kannada to stay in Bangalore or in Karnataka.

People who are having small business or shops can always interact with there customers in Kannada only.

For people working in software companies, there will be lot of recruitments by employee referential scheme. Please refer only people who are Kannadigas, or at least people who know Kannada and respect Karnataka.

Promoting tourism is one of the most important things that we people have to do. Many places in our state are much superior to any other places in our neighboring states. However, we do not seem to promote it the same way the other states dose. For instance, last year I had stayed in Vishakapatnam(AP) for a fortnight on some official duty. The people over there urged me to visit so many places. Also, I visited few of them. In Andra, those places are suppose to be some of the most tourist-attracted places. Nevertheless, I did not feel that they were much better than what we have in our state.

It is very important for us to visit the tourist places in our state as well as it is our own responsibility to promote these places to other people. This will help our state in many ways. First, it will increase the revenue of our state in tourism. Second, we will know more about our own state and mainly others will know the greatness of our state.

There are two programs in our Kannada Doordarshan (Chandana) channel that I like a lot. Those programs are “Thath antha Heli” and the other is “Thana Yana”. These programs give us a lot of information about the tourism places in Karnataka and lot of other information about our state and language. (Might be there are many programs like this on many other channels too).

 People, who are having young kids, speak to them in Kannada. Any way this will not stop them learning English, as they will be forced to speak in English in there school. Let the kids learn Kannada; they are the people who have to save our language and state in the future.

 There are lot of such minor things, which we can carry out in our life as an individual to safe guard our language and state.

 Let us all implement these things. I think it should not be difficult for any Kannadiga to do this.

 Let us all Kannadigas be together and work together to save our mother.
