Need
for dubbing other language films
Currently I am working for US
based company in
Hyderabad.
Since I am away from Karnataka, I can see and sense what exactly is
happening there i.e. being on earth, we can see a complete moon from here
but we can't see the entire earth as a whole. I believe this is somewhat
appropriate example if not 100%.
According to me, in Karnataka
especially in
Bangalore and even in
other major cities play non-Kannada movies and are making lots money too.
Here my concern is not the money or not about future of Kannada film
industry nothing. My only concern is about our language.
Yes Kannada language is slowly
loosing the grip in Karnataka, lots of people are started learning other
languages like Tamil, Telugu and Marathi, listen to songs, movies etc. The
reason could be we are geographically in middle, and all neighbors’ state
influencing their culture their language etc. If we were strong enough we
could have influenced them but we didn't.
Let’s forget influencing others
in fact we failed to sustain our culture in our state. There are many
examples I can give. In B'lore majority of the people celebrate Pongal
instead of Sankranthi, one of my friend has sent Pongal wishes to me (it was
so pathetic). Another surprising instance to me at LIC Vijayanagara branch
office, which is that I saw Pongal wishes on the premium slip when I paid my
premium during January. Such instances are many but I will not explain all
of them here.
My suggestion to you all is to
take this seriously and should try to consult a political leader who can
dedicate his time/money to save Kannada Language. Together you should bring
in a law in Karnataka that any non-Kannada films must be dubbed to Kannada
language to release in Karnataka state. Like in
Hyderabad, here any hit Tamil/Kannada/English movies will be dubbed to
Telugu language before releasing it in AP, they will not release directly
except national movies and international movies. Why can't we do the same in
Karnataka?
If we fail to do so I am sure
Kannada will soon loose its aroma and people would also be in a helpless
situation where they have to communicate with others in non-Kannada, north
Karnataka people would split into few languages Telugu, Marathi, Hindi and
even, Tulu and Konkani. Similarly in south Karnataka people will completely
or 80% become Tamil speaking. I may be predicting wrong because there are
lots of people who would have already started fighting for Kannada.
I do not know for what all
issues they have in their list. You can go ahead with your ideas and plan
but if you feel above mentioned point is valid and feel like giving it a
higher priority then I will be very much happy. Anyway it will always be my
first priority and I will try to explore more ways to achieve this. I am
confident that many of you would agree with this and fight for it.
