Churukk to Our Movie Industry

Our film industry controversy is taking new direction each day.  There was election in the film chamber and few people got changed.  New people are having opinions different from Basanth Kumar Patil, who was shouting against non-Kannada films like anything!  Hence there is indifference within them itself!  In that case, we can least expect anything good coming out of this situation.  It clearly looks like this protest’s main intention is money and not to do any good to our language!

If we ever want to improve the condition of Kannadigas, we have to have a common agenda and a common motive, even if different people work with different visions.  I urge people to get united, before fighting against such serious issues and against the strong (?) forces (non-Kannadigas!!!) Yes, if we become soft, they become harder.  On the other hand, they (non-Kannadigas) are anyhow softer at international arena when it comes to tackling non-Indians!   So the inference is: “Kannadigas are the softest (read “guggugalu”!!!) in the entire world”

North Karnataka people are struggling without development.  They are urging for a separate state.  NRKs (Non resident Kannadigas) of Goa, Kasargodu, etc are crying for help.  We can’t hear that (I come from Bangalore and I assume that most readers of this website hail from Bangalore & Mysore predominantly).  Without their (North Karnatakans’) help and without all of us getting united, how can we fight against strong forces?

I bet, if North Karnataka people get developed (at least half of the development and facilities compared to Bangalore, Mandya and Mysore), they will solve the entire problem of Karnataka on their own.  I assure they are not soft people at all.  They are like cobras.  If an anonymous or disliked person touches them, they will bite them for sure.  They can guard all the interests of Kannada.  But first they should get their share, isn’t it?  Their stomach should be filled at least to get the energy to fight, isn’t it?  They should believe that they belong to Karnataka.  They actually fought for unity of all Kannadigas to form a single Karnataka (Mysore state wasn’t interested in this).  Now their dream is becoming false.

People sitting in air-cooled Bangalore, rather than hot Bidar (applies even to me!) would not understand these problems.  Ok… Our industry might be facing some problems.  But I put the problems of North Kannadigas (poverty, unemployment etc) ahead of this.  There should be some meaning when we fight for Kannada.  These bastards should first learn to produce proper films (Have you seen the Kannada films in the last 5 years or so, one or two excuses are not enough.  OK, even if the other language films are not great, don’t point fingers on them.  Why should we imitate them?  Their situation is completely different from ours’).

Even with so many problems, some of the dirty films like Excuse me (observe the poor techniques, camera work and absurd dialogues through out this film), Chandra chakori (see the ugly comedy scenes of this film), remakes like Yejamaana etc are becoming hits.  So what else these bastards want.  Are they suffering more than the innocent north Kannadigas?  Some people migrating from North Karnataka to Bangalore are getting changed to Bangalorean mentality, so we can’t call them as innocent people.  The innocents are guys like Patil Puttappa and others who treat North Karnataka as also a Kannada region and are resided there for a long period.

Why to care on Kannada film industry when there are far severe problems faced by Karnataka (Kaveri, Krishna, Belgaum, etc.).  Karnataka is also struggling with caste problems (even today!) At least the industry men are having more than 3 meals every day.  I still think that if they give proper films, they will not have too many problems.

Not too long ago, didn’t films like OM, Nammoora Mandhara hoove, Janumadha Jodi, A, Upendra, America America etc compete with other language films? Mind you, in those days even the non-Kannada films were good.  But now they are also poor.  If we are conscious enough, this is the ideal time to beat the non-Kannada films!  I’m sure plenty of non-Kannadigas residing in Bangalore would turn up to Kannada films, if they are good.

Cosmopolitan Bangalore itself would become the gateway for Kannada films to shine at not just national arena, but maybe at international level too!  This will solve all the problems faced by Kannadigas—as I believe in films changing the status of an Indian language.  We should stop shouting that outsiders are occupying our land, tell me how on earth can we stop this?  We should instead do some constructive thinking.

The film-makers should solve the problems for themselves (if they give proper films consistently, it’s all over—all their problems are solved automatically!  They don’t need to do anything else) and then try to solve the general problems faced by Kannada. Most Kannada films today are focused only at Bangalore & Mysore and involve only masala and remake concepts.

North Kannadigas and coastal Karnatakans are treated like buffoons in their films.  Films are not attracting all kinds of people in our land.  In such case there is no point in just shouting Kaveri, Kannada, etc in songs.  The film-makers (who mostly hail from Southern Karnataka) don’t have any moral reason to seek the help of entire Karnataka for their protests.

Dirty crooks, try to understand the situation carefully—because all your efforts will go in vain.  You can’t fight against the cosmopolitan Bangalore and the fragile borders (Maratha dominant Mumbai-Karnataka, Telugu dominant Hyderabad-Karnataka.  I don’t know from where they got these names: Mumbai-Karnataka, Hyderabad-Karnataka!!! Very unique to us!!!).

If you want to do any good to our language, please first throw away those Tamilians and Telugites from your film units, stop bringing so many foreign artists, stop remakes.  This is like licking their (other language people) feet closing your eyes and then kicking on their back showing all your 32 teeth with an ugly smile.  Understood idiots???  Now it’s time to check if all your teeth are firmly placed in your jaws!!!

See slowly the non-Kannada films are getting released.  Now you yourselves have created a tough situation for Kannada films.  I’m sure there will be half-moon on every Kannada film released from now on.  The theater-owners, distributors are all against us now.  Definitely such protests are substantial if we first sort out ourselves, get united and have a strong motive and procedure before stepping into such mission.  Don’t ever compare this protest with Gokak chaluvali please…  To add to the worries, high court as issued notice to Karnataka government and Kannada film industry considering a petition against the 7-week deferral in release of non-Kannada films in Karnataka.

Chaps, first do something meaningful—even if Karnataka is not getting the required resources & facilities from the centre, at least we will distribute whatever little we are getting and whatever we have among all of us (We are not such a poor state definitely, we have a major city like Bangalore in Karnataka).  We should first correct our own indifferences.  Then we will see from there…

The sad part however is, “Kaveri is Mandya’s problem and not Karnataka’s”, “Krishna is North Karnataka’s problem and not Karnataka’s”, “Kannada is Karnataka’s problem and not India’s”, “India is Indians’ problem and not other countries’!!!”  This is how we are creating boundaries!  We can’t think beyond these boundaries.

“Our family only, our relatives only, our friends only”—finally the boundaries would become “I’m only… rest die!!!” and ultimately even this “I” will be torn into pieces… Before that happens, let us get reunited…
